Marley Alutec has delivered a marine-grade aluminium guttering and fascia solution for an ambitious bungalow upgrade in North Yorkshire – and one that was integral to the modern, exterior design of the property. The company developed a number of bespoke elements and provided valuable technical guidance to eliminate potential difficulties with the installation so the final result met both the performance and aesthetic requirements.

Taking a hands-on approach to all aspects of the project, when it came to the choice of guttering and fascia, given that as a bungalow – the eaves system would be far more prominent than a standard two storey property – Nick Harker wanted to ensure that the system was of the highest quality, and with minimal joints to help maintain a clean and contemporary design. As such, he selected marine grade aluminium manufacturer Marley Alutec.

Marley Alutec’s Evoke fascia type C and soffit were chosen in varying widths and profiles, with Aligator Boxer 135mm gutters and Flushfit and Vandal Resistant Square 72mm downpipes. All were specified in RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey to match the bungalow’s windows and to provide a consistent aesthetic.

The project also required a number of bespoke elements to suit the design. For example, Marley Alutec developed and supplied purpose-built gable box corners. These were oversized to limit site jointing and shadow gap joints, which was crucial given that they would also be clearly visible. Marley Alutec also designed bespoke hoppers to discretely discharge water from the rear balcony, custom soffit panels with vents and tailored balcony fascia.

Marley Alutec’s technical support proved incredibly valuable too – with the team calculating the rainwater run off to establish the ideal location for each rainwater pipes. Digital illustrations were created to ensure the build dimensions of the bespoke Evoke products were accurate.
